LEED GOLD
The flagship of the Tulsa City-County Library system, the Central Library completed its remodel in 2018. JDS was brought on during construction to help achieve the client’s ambitious sustainability goals and to shepherd the process for the library’s LEED Gold certification.
HIGHLIGHTS
FIRST COST The library’s design resulted in a building that costs 25% less to operate than comparable facilities. The roof-mounted solar array, installed soon after project completion, significantly offsets the energy requirements, and high-efficiency water fixtures help to save more than 30% in water usage.
RESPONSIBLE MATERIAL USE More than 75% of all waste generated by the demolition and construction was diverted from a landfill. Materials made from recycled content and requiring less transportation were emphasized. Over 95% the wood used on the project was from sustainably managed forests and carried Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
